 The 26th annual Winter Rendezvous, going on from Jan 20 – 24, 2010 in Stowe, Vermont has gotten a real diva facelift this year, Botox and all. It is the largest and longest running GLBT ski event in the East, and this year there will be more than chestnuts roasting on an open fire!
But if you aren’t an avid skier or snowboarder, no worries! There will be plenty of cuties off the slopes relaxing in the hot tub. Event coordinator Michael Wilson adds, “I don’t recommend going out. I say sit in the hot tub and drink vodka with me.” Not a bad invitation. Wilson took over organization of Winter Rendezvous five years ago and has been dedicated to the revitalization of the event ever since.
Whether you’re a bear or a circuit boy, from the big city or from the countryside, a seasoned veteran or new to the scene, Winter Rendezvous has something for everyone. In addition to the mountains, there is plenty to do in Stowe Village including shopping, dog sled races and the home of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream is less than 15 minutes away.
This year’s entertainment headliner is the fabulous drag diva Varla Jean Merman, making her appearance on Saturday night (1/23). Varla Jean was featured in the film “Girls will be Girls,” Bravo’s Project Runway, on Logo and is a familiar face in Provincetown scene. Varla Jean has got a poo poo platter act for this year’s Rendezvous. She may even do a new ballad about her latest fling...”I Was Tiger’s 19th Hole.”
